"Where It Feels Like Family"

Come unto me all that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30
Did you know that Jesus Christ can give you a peace in your heart that can’t be found anywhere on this earth. Whether you're troubled with finances, family troubles, marriage problems, personal loss....whatever your pain....making God the center of your life can give you peace.
Don’t misunderstand. God is not a “genie in a bottle.” He won’t necessarily erase all our troubles, but He CAN put us at peace with them and change our lives forever if we trust Him and take His yoke upon us. Then we shall find rest unto our souls.
For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; (Romans 3:23)
We at Evansville Baptist Church and Strait Gate Ministries, are all sinners who have been convicted and transformed by the Holy Spirit. Whether covetous, thieves, liars, alcoholics, envious, gossipers, homosexuals, adulterers...whatever our obstacles might have been....the Lord, in His great and infinite mercy, has forgiven and touched us so that we will never be the same again. There is nothing God can’t forgive if you repent and give your life to Him. Some of us have seen miracles first hand and others have felt His touch in times of despair but all of us love Him and know that Jesus died the worst death imaginable so that we could be forgiven of our sins and be reconciled with God. That was His gift to the world. It is the best gift ever and it’s free...all you have to do is accept it. We hope that through exploring our pages, you can find hope for your life and the peace we all want and need through Jesus Christ. Please take your time and browse our pages. If you have any questions, concerns or if you would like us to pray for you, we will be happy to do so, just send us a note. Also, please sign our Guest Book before you leave so we can know you visited and blessed us with your time. We know that you're visiting so let us know how we're doing while you're there.
The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. (Numbers 6:24-26)

In His Steps

Faith Without Works?
|
|
I recently finished reading the book, "In His Steps...What Would Jesus Do?" The book was written in 1896 and is just as much relevant now as it was then. You can find the book on E-Sword as one of the "Topic Notes" books. Then ask when you find yourself in any situation of decision, "What would Jesus do in this situation?"
(1 Peter 2:21 KJVR) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
What Would Jesus Do?

I'm sure that these men would rather THINK about working on this sewer pipe than actually WORK on it. And I'm pretty sure that they have faith enough that the work will eventually get done. But the fact is, this pipe will never get finished until they pick up their shovels and start working! It's great to learn how to witness to people and to learn how to lead them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. But until we look them in the eyes and say, "Do you know Jesus as your personal savior?", we've just thought about witnessing. The same is true with this web site. We often think of articles, News & Events, God Sightings, Prayer Request, Praises, and other things to put here, but...we just never seem to get around to it. Well, here it is...
